As the weather gets colder, those with eczema sometimes suffer more especially little ones. My daughter had an issue with eczema when she was younger. I started giving her teaspoon of organic flax meal in her oatmeal before she turned one and eczema is no longer an issue for her. According to the research I found, essential fatty acids (EFAs) are essential in treating/healing eczema since they're natural anti-inflammatories. It worked for my daughter...hopefully it will work for your child too. Other great sources of EFA's (these are main staples in our pantry) are pumpkin seeds, walnuts and oily fish. Kids love the crunch of sunflower seeds in their yogurt or cereal.
We also replace peanut butter with raw almond butter (the Maranatha brand is my favorite) and Artisan's organic raw walnut butter. My husband things almond butter is "tasteless" but my daughter and I enjoy it.
Other great foods for eczema include avocado, green leafy veggies, sunflower seeds and sweet potato.
If you've tried a non-steroidal, natural treatment for healing your childs eczema, please share.
